Questions & Answers (Q&A)-1 regarding the Project

I received the follwoing questions from Eng. Muhammad REFAAT regarding the Project. I am providing the answers under each specific question. Please feel free to send questions to this forum and I will respond to them as fast as I can.

Q1- The design is intended to cover the faculty of engineering. Will they need a map with distances between buildings to determine where to put the networking devices? Also, does a department refer to a building or a group of buildings?

A1: Yes, the design should include a map showing the actual buildings of the Faculty of Engineering and their distances. You may get the map from Google, Booklets of the Faculty of Engineering, Vice Dean for Community Service, ... , etc. In the real case, a Department may consist of several buildings (EECE has just one building). Each group should decide the level of details it will be able to consider in its design.

Q2- For the needed devices, will they need to separate departments, so they will use a router for each department or switches are enough?

A2- Yes, we need to separate departments. One solution is to use routers. Another solution is to use Virtual Local Srea Networks (VLANs).

Q3- Will the IPs assigned to the PCs be private IPs or public IPs? If they are public, will they be accounted in the cost?

A3 - Yes, assigned IPs are to be real. They would be considered in the cost.

Q4- Will the link between Giza campus and El Shiekh Zaid be accounted with its real cost (leased line, VPN, ...)?

A4- Yes.

Q5- What are the other items counted as running cost?

A5- Each group should make its own discussions and conclusions.
